Greek Day/Slice Of Life #12

On a Friday, I had A-Day Block 3 Greek Day with my Social Studies teacher Mr. DellaCroce.  It was pretty fun, but everything seemed... shorter.  It went by pretty fast and we didn’t get to do everything that was planned.  Still, it was fun.  I’m just going to talk about one thing, though... Poseidolphin!

First I walked into the classroom and saw my classmates holding their Greek crafts or letting them sit on the table, there were all kinds of crafts.  Helmets, floral crowns, mini chariots, instruments, li’l drawings, etc.  I came over to my table with my “Poseidolphin”.

The Poseidolphin was a drawing of a bottlenose dolphin I drew on a baby blue paper and cut out.  I had a sticky note on it with some information.  “Poseidolphin: Poseidon’s Pet” and “A dolphin is the national animal of Greece.”  There’s no such thing as Poseidolphin, it’s just something I made.  I sat at my desk with the Poseidolphin on my lap.

Surprisingly, even though it was kind of rushed and I made it the night before, it seemed pretty popular!  Later on, during  the trading with the Greek crafts everyone made (it represented the Agora), I think at least three people wanted to trade for my Poseidolphin.  They thought was cute or something, I guess that’s true.  I hope I didn’t seem selfish, but I just didn’t really want to trade it for anything.

Alright, so that’s everything I can think of to say about my Poseidolphin.  Maybe you can tell me about your Greek crafts in the comments!  See you (not literally) in my next blog post!  Thanks for reading!  Have a good day.

What Is Poetry?

What is poetry?  First, I’ll ask Google.  “literary work in which special intensity is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature.”  Now I’ll put it in my own words...

Poetry is a style of writing to make ideas more exciting and fun, it often using rhyming.  Some other common characteristics of poetry are onomatopoeia, alliteration, personification, repetition and metaphors/similes.  Poetry is almost always written in lines that would go into stanzas.

I definitely know what poetry is, but it’s kind of hard to define.  What’s your definition of poetry? You can tell me in the comments!  If you want, you could also stick a poem you like or a poem you made in the comments.  Thanks for reading!

Pick A Poem

Here’s a poem I like.  It’s a prophecy from a fantasy book series about dragons called “The Dragonet Prophecy”.  The book series is called Wings Of Fire and it’s by Tui T. Sutherland.  I’m sure it sounds pretty confusing, but it makes more sense if you read the first five books of the series.

The Dragonet Prophecy

When the war has lasted twenty years...
The dragonets will come.
When the land is soaked in blood and tears...
The dragonets will come.

Find the SeaWing egg of deepest blue.
Wings of night shall come to you.
The largest egg in mountain high
Will give to you the wings of sky.

For wings of earth, search through the mud
For an egg the color of dragon blood.
And hidden alone from the rival queens,
The SandWing egg awaits unseen.

Of three queens who blister, blaze, and burn,
Two shall die and one shall learn
If she bows to a fate that is stronger and higher,
She’ll have the power of wings of fire.

Five eggs to hatch on the brightest night,
Five dragons born to end the fight.
Darkness will rise to bring the light.
The dragonets are coming...

Mario’s Italian Lemonade

This is a pretty late blog post, but it’s better than nothing, right?  So, my topic for the Chicago History Project was Mario’s Italian Lemonade.  Mario’s Italian Lemonade is a family owned stand in Chicago that sells Italian ice.  It’s owned by Mario DiPaolo Sr, his wife Dorothy and their children.  It’s been around for over 60 years!

I chose this topic because it’s sort of personal.  Also, with all those weird murderers being studied, I thought I should lighten the mood a bit.  Anyway, the sort of personal part is I used to go there with my family when I was a lot younger.  We’ve never really gotten a chance to go since.  But, that doesn’t mean anything bad happened to the shop, or something bad happened with my family to stop us from going again.

I think I did pretty well with my project in the end.  The class seemed interested enough, and I put a bunch of information.  If you have any questions about Mario’s Italian Lemonade, you can ask in the comments.  I’ll try to answer.  Thanks for reading!

4th Quarter Goals

My ELA goals for this quarter are to get the blog posts for this quarter finished, start and finish a book called Winter Turning from the Wings Of Fire series, finish the poetry book in time and get my ELA grades up.  I’ll hopefully just get 3’s and 4’s for the quarter.  Right now I’m working on finishing this quarter’s blog posts, (I am writing this post right now, after all) I really hope I’ll make it in time.  There’s a lot of work to do!

How will I finish all those recent blog posts I’ve missed?  Well, I think I’ll have to make them a lot shorter...  I feel bad doing that, but it’s just there are some posts I’ve done drafts of and I feel like they’re way too short to publish.  Short for me is two or three paragraphs and decent is seven or eight.  The “short” bit I make for those posts is only the beginning of the story!  I know I can’t finish all those old ones, so when I make these Q4 ones I’ll have a new idea of how long they should be: what I think is short.

I’ll try to sum up anything as quickly as possible.  I’ll still put details, I’ll just make it more of a summary than a whole story.  Again, I really want to finish these in time, so I hope this new method works!  Ms. Haury, if you see this post you can comment and tell me your thoughts or suggestions.  Thanks for reading this “short” post!

Two Of My Poems

Here are two of my poems.  The first one is the nature poem I called “An Ocean Fantasy”.  The second one is the rainy day poem, I didn’t really think of a special name for it.  It’s onomatopoeia.

Drifting through endless blue
Eyes peek out to stare at you
They go back into the sand
A misfit here; a lubber of land

You keep flying, through all the coral
Blooming colors; almost floral
Seahorses gallop on and on
Slowly, slowly, then they’re gone

Dolphins swirl and leap and glide
Riding invisible water slides
Clicks and whistles bounce about
Chatting ‘bout you without a doubt

Staying here in a fantasy
Water for infinity
Sinking down, you close your eyes
Taking the path of ocean tides

The drizzling rain pitter patters lightly on my shoes as they smack their way across the ground to my house.  It’s getting harder, each raindrop almost splashes onto me now.  Lightning zips, thunder cracks.  I get to the gate and unlatch it as it clinks, the gate creaks open.  Each raindrop is now a big plop onto my shirt and face.  The leaves on the tree rustle loudly.  My shoes are bonking down when I run up the stairs.  I thrust the door open and slam it closed.  I sigh.  Phew!

My Favorite Song?!

Okay, there is no clear song that I like most.  I do really like many songs, so how can I chose one?!  It’s so hard!  I guess I’ll just say one song I like that isn’t my absolute favorite.  Here’s a song I like, but isn’t my favorite song.  Octopus’s Garden written by Ringo Starr/Richard Starkey from the Beatles!

I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade
He'd let us in, knows where we've been
In his octopus' garden in the shade

I'd ask my friends to come and see
An octopus' garden with me
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade.

We would be warm below the storm
In our little hideaway beneath the waves
Resting our head on the sea bed
In an octopus' garden near a cave

We would sing and dance around
Because we know we can't be found
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden in the shade

We would shout and swim about
The coral that lies beneath the waves
(Lies beneath the ocean waves)
Oh what joy for every girl and boy
Knowing they're happy and they're safe
(Happy and they're safe)

We would be so happy you and me
No one there to tell us what to do
I'd like to be under the sea
In an octopus' garden with you.

The last part where it sounds kind of lovey I’m just thinking of being friends with the octopus.  I like octopi.  They’re very intelligent and cute.  πŸ™  Very cute.

How My Spring Break Went

My Spring Break was about how it usually is, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun!  There were some very new things.  Oh, also, I said my dad would be saying the readings at the Saturday or Sunday mass.  He read at the Saturday evening mass.  But, someone else did too!

People from our church called to ask my dad and this other guy to do the readings, but I guess the people who called them didn’t know about each others’ calls.  They shared the readings, compromised.  My dad read the first one (it was about the universe being created) and the other guy did the second.  The priest always does the Gospel, which is always from the New Testament, which always has to do with Jesus.  Cuzima Catholic.  (Translation: This is because I’m a Catholic Christian.)

Over Spring Break I made some good progress in a game I was putting off playing for a while, because I didn’t have the hang of it.  Now I do, and I try to play it in my spare time a lot!  My brother Eamonn bought it for me for my 10th or 11th birthday and felt kind of annoyed that it was just sitting there most of the time.  Now I play it a lot more!  Oh, yeah, the game is a DS game called “PokΓ©mon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time”.  I play it on my 3DS, also something Eamonn bought for my, maybe, 9th or 8th birthday?

I love Eamonn!  Not just because he bought those things for my birthdays, but because he’s my brother.  And he does other nice stuff.  The one thing is he doesn’t really like it when I want to hug him.  I guess that’s understandable, but I just wish I could.  It’s not like I want to kiss him!  I have to admit that kissing your sibling is more than kind of weird.  I don’t know, it’s just... weeeeeird.   :/

I watched some movies and things like that, I went to LaGrange Theater to see a movie called “Early Man” on Easter.  I enjoyed  it, but it felt kind of short.  It was probably barely an hour and a half or something.  It was pretty funny and a little gross here and there.  Still, it was funny.  I went to see it with my dad and brother Eamonn, while my mom stayed at home with our dog.  I think she’d like Early Man too, so maybe we could check it out from the Berwyn Public Library when it comes out on DVD.

The same day we watched Early Man, we also saw a bunch of White-tailed Deer on the way back.  I think it was 20 or 30-something deer!  There were young ones, and ones with big antlers, and mothers.  They were adorablllllllllllle.  Deer are noice.

Of course, there was also candy over Spring Break.  I very much am contented by candy.  We got Peeps, chocolate, jelly beans and candy eggs.  Yum.  It’s not like we have a totally insanely humongous amount of candy, but we still haven’t finished it all.  Just as I predicted.

Welp, that’s everything I can remember that would be worth having in a blog post.  I hope you liked it!  It’s a pretty decent post, if I do say so myself.  Somewhat decent...  I’m actually not sure.  I’m the only one who sees these long posts before they’re published.  There’s only one way to find out how good it is.  UNLEASH THE POWER!!  It has been done.

Spring Break & Easter!!

Less than a week until Easter Sunday!!  Six days, to be exact.  April Fools Day is also on Easter, but you probably know that by now.  At least for me and my family, since I’m a Christian, it’s kind of like God is doing an April Fools joke to Satan.

“Ha, you thought Jesus was dead?!  Well, He rose from the dead and opened the gates of Heaven!  APRIL FOOOOOOOOOLS!”

But before Easter is GOOD Friday, which confuses me.  I go to church on “Good” Friday and we’re all mourning Jesus like His mother Mary did.  But you know, (SPOILER ALERT) He’s going to rise from the dead on Easter, and not be a zombie or anything.  Still His same self.  Yet, we’re still doing kind of a memorial mass for Him, which makes sense.

What DOESN’T make sense is calling it Good Friday while Easter Sunday is just Easter Sunday.  Good Friday should be Not So Good Friday, and Easter Sunday should be Good & Grand Easter Sunday.  Good Friday will forever confuse me.

But besides my religion, I do the fun candy happy crazy bunny egg hullabaloo Easter celebrations too.  It’s always a very noice day.

Throughout the whole Spring Break, me, my brother Eamonn and my parents all work on eating the candy and eggs we got from Easter.  We never finish it all in the Spring Break time, and we usually never finish it all, at all.  Not because we have an insane amount of food, but because, well, I don’t know why.

Actually, we do finish the eggs, we just don’t finish the candy.  There’s still some sitting around from last Easter in our fridge.  I don’t know what we’re going to do with it.  It’s the same thing with Halloween candy.

We have at least three movies with Easter aspects to them, I can’t remember their names though.  One live action and two animated.  We usually watch one of them.

During Spring Break some plants in our yard start blooming and blossoming more, and when we go outside we like to look at them.  We also notice the plants blooming in other people’s yards or just on their own.

I mentioned how I go to the Good Friday mass, so I do go to mass on Holy Saturday OR Easter Sunday.  I don’t know which day I’m going to yet.  Someone who was going to read the readings and stuff at one of the masses can’t make it and my dad is doing it instead.  I might’ve heard which day that was, but I don’t remember.  Me and Eamonn are going to whichever mass my dad is reading at.  My mom believes in Jesus and all, but she doesn’t go to mass.

That’s everything I can think of saying about something my Spring Break will be like, I hope you liked my post!

Free Post: Immediately Coming Up With A Weird Poem As I Make This Post

Once There Was
By: Clementine Odum

Once there was
A person who
Spent there whole life
In a shoe!
She didn’t know
That it was,
Kind of weird,
Be-ecause
It looked exactly like a sneaker!
Yet again
She should’ve seen
The sneaker gets weaker
When Mr. Ben
Puts his foot EEN (in)

So that’s the strange poem I made up just now that doesn’t make much sense.  Hope you liked it!

A Favorite Quote

I don’t have one favorite quote, but here’s a quote I like from the RPG (Role-Playing Game) Undertale.

“That’s the trash can, feel free to visit it any time!”

     -Papyrus

I really like that quote.  It’s very funny and kind of Papyrus the skeleton.  It will always sound a little strange, but, well, that’s what makes it funny!  I don’t know what else to say.  I guess I might as well advertise the game.

Even though I don’t have the amazing video game Undertale, I hope to get it one day.  You can play it on the Playstation 4, which I also don’t have, and it only costs $10!  Like most RPGs, there are many endings to the game Undertale, but only one true good ending.

In Undertale, the player doesn’t have to kill or defeat the enemies.  They can befriend them!  If the player doesn’t kill any of the enemies and characters at all, they get the good ending called True Pacifist.  If the player defeats some of them and befriends others, they get an okay ending.  If they defeat all or most of them, they get an evil and bad ending.  That ending is called GENOCIDE.

Undertale is very special like that, you have the opportunity to change the way all the enemies and characters think of you.  It’s a great game, and like I said, I don’t have it.  I did watch the YouTuber Dan TDM play the whole game in True Pacifist, though.  There were different videos, but all together it was HOURS AND HOURS long.  It was worth it.  Even though I know how everything goes, one day I want to play Undertale for myself in True Pacifist, because I like all the characters.

Sea Slugs/Slice Of Life #9/March 8

My friend Sarah is REALLY into sea slugs.  I think I have a little obsession for them too.  She’s been working on this Google Doc called Community Sea Slug Collection and sent it to me, my brother, and our friends.  Whenever someone sends her something she likes on Google Drive, she draws a picture of a sea slug.  Also when someone puts a funny, useful or nice comment.  It doesn’t HAVE to be sea slug related comment, though.

Today, I’m making a list of probably around FIFTY kinds of sea slugs and I’m going to make a Doc dedicated to each one.  No one knows except me, of course, and anyone who’s reading this post. Currently I have 32 kinds of sea slugs on my list, and it keeps creeping up!

I don’t want to send an explosion of sea slug Docs that she'll/shell have to put a whole a bunch of sea slug drawings on her waiting list for.  So there’s definitely going to be some time separating sending each one.  But I’m still making the list right now!

Oh, people know when your Doc or comment is worthy of a sea slug drawing in Community Sea Slug collection when they get a Seel of Slug.  If she can edit the Doc that was sent, she’ll put a picture of the seel.  If she can comment she says “-seel of slug-“.

I can’t wait to make all these Sea Slug Docs, but like I said, my list needs to keep going a little longer!  If you don’t know what a sea slug is, just search it on Google.  They’re really pretty, colorful, exotic, cute, they’re so great!

Incoming! Wings of Fire!/Slice Of Life #8/March 6

Yesssssss!  I finished reading my book, Jacky Ha Ha!  It was good, but I’m actually glad it’s finally over!  I did like it, but now I’m going to read something I think I’ll like even MORE.  Wings of Fire!

My brother Eamonn, my friends Sarah, Sophie and I’m pretty sure Sam have all read at least some of it.  Now it’s my turn!  The first book is called The Dragonet Prophecy, oh, also, WOF is a series of fantasy stories about dragons.

I’m pretty excited about reading it, but my brother got a big head start on WOF and doesn’t want to wait for me to catch up.  I said maybe he could read a book series I really liked about cats called Warriors while he’s waiting for me, but he doesn’t want to do that either.  The first Warriors book is being made into a movie probably later this year, my parents have read the first book, Into the Wild and enjoyed it.  I REALLY REALLY want Eamonn to too.

WOF is pretty well known, there are lots of videos about it on YouTube.  There are some funny ones, so once I’ve read enough of it I’ll be able to understand and watch them.  Hm, there are lots of good Warriors videos too.  I want Eamonn to at least read the first book!

I feel like I don’t bug him about much, but when I actually do do it, he says I do it all the time and that makes him want to read it less.  My mom likes to joke about this one part of the book, and Eamonn sometimes brings that up too.

Anyway, I guess all there is to this blog post is I really want to read WOF and J really want Eamonn to read some Warriors.  You should read it too!  The movie’s coming out most likely later this year!

Thing On My Coat/Slice Of Life #7/March 1

Yesterday, February 27th, (also my mom’s birthday 🍰) I went to the The Sound of Music workshop so I could audition.  Before the workshop got going, I was sitting on one of the bench-y things that were moved by the walls of the MPR, AKA HMS Lunchroom.  I had placed my backpack, messenger bag, binder and coat on the table.

My eyes were wandering around the room, Mrs. Chlumsky (one of the directors) organizing some papers, kids talking, other kids looking around the room.  Then I looked back at my little area.  I looked at my nice li’l belongings, backpack, messenger bag, binder and coat.  I stared straight at my coat, the Velcro.  There was something on the Velcro of my coat.

I looked a little closer.  What was that thing?  I looked even closer.  “Ee, what is that?” I quietly wondered.  It was some sort of hair, but not long enough to be mine and not short enough to be my dog’s.  Not dark enough enough to be mine OR my dog’s.  It was pretty light, it had some white and some barely blonde mixed up.  What exactly was it?  Where did it come from?

I quickly thrusted my hand forward, plucked the thing off and got it off of my hand.  “Eh!  Hm, maybe I could do a blog post about this.”  I mumbled to myself.

     So I did.

Smoking Should Be BANNNNNNNED

I’m sure no one in the whole school wants to smoke, but I’m making this anyway.  Maybe you know someone who smokes and don’t know what you could say that would make them stop.  Maybe this’ll help, I hope it will some.  These are just three reasons, I’m not giving evidence but I’ll probably have to do another post with that.  So I guess another post will help more than this one.

1. Smokers risk their life and others’ lives doing it.

2. There are no health benefits.

3. It’s addictive and hard, but possible, to quit once you start.

Those are my three reasons.  This post was pretty short and simple, but I don’t think it was supposed to be all that long.  There probably will be a more detailed post coming up.

The Evolution of the Likelihood of a Snow Day/Slice Of Life #6

The Snow Day was pretty fun, I can’t really remember any specific stuff about it.  But it felt very satisfying when I looked up at the TV and Berwyn South School District #100 came up the day before.  Hmm, Thursday wasn’t the Snow Day, but I remember that part a little more than anything that was actually on Friday.  Maybe I’ll just talk about that???

I know this is supposed to be about Friday, and I went back to Thursday, but now I’m going back to Wednesday morning.  That was when my dad first told me that there’s going to be a lot of snow coming through and school might be canceled on Friday.  I asked him whether he thought it was more or less likely that school would be canceled, and back then he said it was probably 50/50.

After school that day, I asked Dad what he thought was going to happen again.  He said that it was a little more likely that school WOULD be canceled on Friday, but not to get my hopes up too much.

Okay, time for Thursday morning.  My dad told me that there’s even MORE of a chance of school being canceled now.  I was pretty excited, but I wasn’t counting on it for sure.  During Excel, I asked my teachers what they thought.  They said there probably WOULD be school on Friday.

I wasn’t sure about that, but of course I wasn’t sure about school being canceled either.  I’m no future-seeing voodoo meteorologist who eats four leaf clovers for breakfast!  Then my teachers said that the roads in some places may be cleared from snow, but people who live kind of far away would have a hard time getting here.

So now my Excel teachers were unsure about school on Friday.  But now I was a little more unsure about school being canceled, because they were leaning towards school coming at first.

At lunch on Thursday, I told my friends that school might be canceled on Friday.  At first my friend Sarah was happy, but then she realized her mom would be working.  I’m not exactly sure how everything worked out, but it did.

When I got home from school, me, my mom and my brother Eamonn watched the news.  Eamonn was using his school iPad some while the news was on, but he was still paying attention.  I was just watching it.  I think my mom might’ve had her phone out some, but she shut it off or something.

We were looking at the bottom of the screen.  A’s, and right after that, B’s.  We were waiting for Berwyn. All those other schools had been closed on Friday, so we were 99% sure that Berwyn South School District #100 would be too.

Since it was pretty obvious, when it did come up, I didn’t really give much of a reaction.  I smiled, I think I said some sort of small cheer and I was content.  But not SUPER AMAZINGLY SURPRISED HAPPY!  I felt like my mom was exaggerating on how great it was.

Eamonn was looking up when our district came up, but my mom was still saying something like, “Eamonn, look!  School is canceled!  Children, look!  Aren’t you excited?!”  I knew she was trying to be a little silly, but it still felt kind of weird.

Then the alphabetical school closings started over.  I took my school iPad out too, we already saw our school district’s closing, so I didn’t really need to see it again.  My mom was still telling us to look, and I felt like she was exaggerating its greatness even more than the first time.

“Guys!  School is CANCELED.  Don’t you want to see your school on TV?  Look, children there’s no school tomorrow!”

It was funny, but a little frustrating too.

Honest Honesty

This is my honest honesty post, as you can see in the name.  I have to be honest here, this post is very late.  But I’ll do it anyway.

Honesty and truth are pretty much the same, but that’s not a definition of honesty.  Honesty is when you tell the- no, no, no.  That doesn’t work.  Well, it kind of does.  I know what being honest means, I just can’t put it into the right words!  Maybe, if you’re an honest person, you’re the opposite of a liar?  That’s a little better.

You know what?  I’m just going to use the word “truth” now.  Okay, if you’re an honest person, you are truthful not only to others, but to yourself.  Ooh, that’s nice!  I made that up on my own, I’m not slurping from the Internoodles.  I didn’t make up the word “Internoodles” though.  Ask me if you’re confused.  Hey!  I’m being honest!  When you’re honest, you don’t take credit for something that isn’t yours, AKA don’t plagiarize.

But don’t be TOO honest.  That sounds weird, but it’s TRUE.  If you’re too honest, you might hurt someone’s feelings.  Some truths shouldn’t be told.  Wow, do I sound wise right now?  Or has everything I’ve ever said or done been said or done before?  Or what if all my life has been a dream, and soon I’m going to wake up in a diaper?  The world may never know who or what I really am...  Heheh.  I’m going off track.

Honesty is more than “not lying”, you have to be nice about it!  Well, I guess you don’t HAVE to be, but you should be.

Now...  Am I honest?  NO ONE is COMPLETELY honest.  Except me!  No, just kidding.  Like I said, some truths shouldn’t be told.  But not too many.  You don’t want to be something totally different in the inside than what everyone thinks you are.  Yes, you’re not lying, but too many untold truths is almost a lie.  No, it IS a lie.  One gigantic lie!

I have some personal stuff, I don’t think I really say lies, but there’s stuff about myself, my friends, my family that isn’t really talked about.  Hey!  It’s not disturbing or depressing stuff, don’t just assume that from my tone.  I just think it sounds kind of cool, but is it cool?  The world may never know...  But here’s something I know.

Free Post: A Story I’m Working On!

I’ve been working on a story called “Time to Slime”.  It’s set in a completely ordinary world, except there are living, gender-less slimes and berries that don’t really exist, which the slimes eat.  The berries aren’t part of what you’re seeing today, though.

If you don’t understand what I mean by living slimes, just think of a Minecraft slime.  But slimes aren’t evil in the story!  Oh, there’s also this game I don’t really know anything about called “Slime Rancher”, that has good living slimes.

Anyway, here’s a sneak peek that I sent to some of my friends on Google Drive.  I did add a paragraph and a couple sentences to it, my friends haven’t seen it yet.

Yellow ran, it ran as fast as its legs- wait, wait, wait.  Legs?  Since when did they have legs?  Gross!  But what would replace that word?  Well, slugs have a single huge foot, would that work for Yellow?

“Yellow ran, it ran as fast as its FOOT could take it!”  No, that doesn’t sound right.  It isn’t exactly running either, more like sliding.  Let’s just go with “slide” instead of “run”, and “slime” instead of “legs”.  Oh, and if you haven’t figured it out by now, Yellow is a slime.

Alright, back to the story…  Yellow slid, it slid as fast as its slime could take it!  It looked behind itself.  Oh, come ON!  That thing must’ve been chasing me for a half hour by now.  There are lots of squirrels out there, play with them.  But you might SQUOOSH me!

But the bouncing, brown bulldog kept blundering on after Yellow.  He ignored everything else.  His tongue was close, it was flopping out of his mouth and getting tiny droplets of spit onto Yellow’s back.  Yuck!

“I didn’t want to have to do this, but you leave me no choice,” Yellow began.  Wow, that sounded so cool it was stupid.  How many times has that kind of thing been said in movies and TV shows anyway?

“Bill-EEEEEEEEEEE!  Time for supper!”  An old grandma called just in time.  She didn’t actually own “Billy”, or any pet for that matter.  But she would feed and name stray dogs and cats.  The elderly lady even let them wander into her house, tracking mud all over her carpets and floors!

The canine’s ears perked up, and he quickly waddled back to his food provider’s house.

“Whew, glad that’s over.  That dog was driving me crazy!”  Yellow mumbled to itself.  Well, that’s not COMPLETELY true.  I kind of wanted to show that dog who’s boss, it’s just I don’t want to pick a fight after someone already runs away!  But I could’ve EASILY won.  Ugh, oh well.  I argue with myself too much.

Yellow happily hopped to the end of the block, which led to a large, grassy field with all sorts of flowers and other plants.  Once it got there, it couldn’t help rolling around in the lush greenery.

ELDER WOMAN.

I came up with this superheroine a long time ago, it’s kind of funny.  Okay, I’ll just say some of her powers and other things.

Elder Woman sounds a little like “Wonder Woman”, so that’s how I first thought of her name.  Her age is a mystery, but we do know she’s DEFINITELY over 100 years old.  Her family is unknown, but Elder Woman likes babysitting in her free time.  Her catch phrase is “Respect your elders!”

Now for some of her powers!!!

1. The Belt:
Elder Woman lashes out her belt and spanks the enemy.  She shouts, “RESPECT your elders!”  The enemy is stunned, and forced to think about what they just did.  50% of the time the enemy gives up the attack.

2. Denture Boomerang:
Elder Woman whisks her hand into her mouth and takes out her dentures.  She aims her denture boomerang, and throws it at the enemy.  It hits them, and they dentures come right back into Elder Woman’s mouth.

3. Super Hearing Aid:
Elder Woman adjusts her hearing aid.  It makes a loud, high pitched squeal.  Enemies nearby are temporarily stunned from the terrible noise.  (Yeah, like they’re also stunned with the belt.  I know.)  It also gives her super hearing.

4. Cane Club:
Elder Woman lifts up her cane, and harshly bonks it on the enemy’s head.

5. Walker Rocket:
Elder Woman has rocket boosters on her walker, which allow her to fly!  She can fly anywhere with enough oxygen.

6. Experienced Brain:
Elder Woman is very smart, she made all of these tools herself!  Well, she didn’t completely make them.  She bought an ordinary walker, cane, hearing aid, belt and false teeth.  Then she upgraded them!  All of the actual powers from the tools she engineered herself, just her.  Even though she fights, Elder Woman is very nice, wise and experienced.

Blackfish

Yesterday, and the day before, our ELA class watched the documentary movie Blackfish.  Lots of it was really sad.  There were also bloody/violent scenes, I’m surprised that there wasn’t a permission slip...  But, of course, it’s too late now!  BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I believe most of the things said in the movie, but I do think it’s possible that lots of the orca attacks to the trainers, were actually just them trying to play.  Humans are a LOT smaller than orcas, and they aren’t used to making relationships with us.  Maybe they just don’t realize their own strength.  Lots of those attacks would be just like play with other orcas, and would only cause maybe some little scratches to the other orca.

But I wish that SeaWorld never kept orcas in captivity.  I wish that they only brought orcas in if they were very badly hurt in the wild.  Then they could care for them until they got better, and release them to the ocean again.  Or maybe if they found a lost calf, they could care for that calf until it’s grown up, then they find a pod, and release it there.

Just don’t risk lives for performances!  Even if everything they’ve said is true, SeaWorld still knows that the orcas are unpredictable and it’s hard to give them the kind of life they have in the wild.  They live longer in the wild than in captivity, and trainers would live longer without the orca performances.

Dolphins and seals definitely enjoy it more than the orcas, and they’re also closer to our size.  So they wouldn’t need really big meals!  They also wouldn’t be able to hurt people very badly.

Those are my thoughts on SeaWorld and orcas.  πŸŒŠπŸŒŽ

🌚🌝

Heheh, they’re in love.

Incentive Day/Slice Of Life #4

WOW, this is soooooooooooo late.  I don’t remember Incentive Day very much.  But, I left early and didn’t get to go to the “fun rooms” or whatever.  I don’t have much to say about it, hmm, let me think.

Oh, yeah.  I left early because me, my parents, my brother Eamonn were all going to Fullerton in Orange County California.  On a road trip.  It took about four days, and it had times where it got a LITTLE boring, but it was all worth it.

Here’s our path:  Berwyn Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Fullerton California.

On our road trip, we saw (we SAW them, we looked out our windows, we didn’t go outside the car and explore) mountains, desserts, prairies, cities, farms, an actual good view of sunsets and the sky, palm trees, tumble weeds, mocking birds, and I think maybe even prairie dogs.  Was I bragging there?  Not exactly.  I really don’t know.

On Incentive Day, I left during around the start of my Block 3 Social Studies class.  Even though I left early, I still got to do Bingo in ELA Block 1, Christmas Songs in Math Block 2, and a LITTLE Kahoot in Block 3.  It was prrrrrrrty (yeah, prrrrrrrty) fun.

I chose the technology room for the fun rooms, but it didn’t really matter.  At first I wasn’t sure if I’d be skipping the whole school day, going for the whole day, or staying somewhere around half the day.  But it was around half.

I improved on my Language and Reading test, and stayed exactly the same for my overall Math test.  I’m not going to say my scores, so you can imagine something if you want to.  Or just ignore this part.  Go on, now, stranger or not stranger.  Hmm, I guess I just put that last sentence to fill in some space.  Maybe that last one too.  Oh well, I’ll stop now, it’s gone far enough.

I really don’t remember that much, so if you want me to include something you think I might’ve done, tell me.  I got the basics out.  Thanks for reading my belated blog post!
